Dog swimming at the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört

Normally, four-legged friends aren’t allowed in the outdoor pool – normally! We’re changing that! On Saturday 5 September 2026, a week after the end of the outdoor swimming season, the Karlsruher Bäder are organising the spectacular ‘Dog Swimming’ event at the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört, making every ‘sea dog’s dream’ come true!
On this day, from 10 am to 5 pm, four-legged friends are allowed into the large, unchlorinated ‘seal pool’ – the wave pool at the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört.

Dog owners and their dogs pay one euro each “per foot and paw”. Event tickets can only be purchased in cash on the day of the event at the venue. Card payments are not accepted.

Visitors can look forward to a varied selection of information and sales stalls dedicated to dogs. Whether it’s practical accessories, useful information or new ideas for everyday life with your four-legged friend – there’s plenty to discover here. Refreshments are also available from the outdoor pool kiosk’s extensive range of food and drink (cash only).

Admission closes at 4 pm. The event will go ahead even if it rains.

Look forward to a varied day of activities for both people and dogs.

Terms and Conditions for dog swimming (excerpt):

  • All dogs aged 13 weeks or older are eligible to take part. Dogs with infectious diseases are not permitted to enter. The organiser reserves the right to exclude dogs that do not meet the health requirements from taking part. It is recommended that you bring your dog’s vaccination certificate and microchip number with you. The organiser reserves the right to exclude particularly aggressive dogs, dogs exhibiting unusual behaviour and dogs in heat from taking part.
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead in the entrance area (upon entering the Rheinstrandbad Rappenwört) and in the exhibitors’ and catering areas. Dogs are not permitted in the toilet facilities. Dogs on the controlled breeds list must be kept on a lead throughout the entire event site and in the pool. In the water and outside the areas specified in paragraph 1, dogs may be let off the lead at the owner’s own risk. The dog owner is responsible for their dog’s state of health and behaviour towards other dogs and people. Mutual consideration is particularly important in the water to avoid dangerous situations and, amongst other things, dogs becoming entangled in leads.
  • At the end of the season, chlorination of the outdoor pool water is discontinued. The water is therefore unchlorinated and poses no health risk to dogs.
  • People accompanying dogs must not swim in the water but may stand in water no deeper than knee-deep.
  • Supervision of the dog in the water is the sole responsibility of the person accompanying the dog.
  • The owner is personally responsible for their dog and is liable for any damage caused by it. The owner is responsible for ensuring they have adequate insurance cover (pet owner’s liability insurance).
  • It is recommended that you carry your dog’s vaccination certificate and microchip number with you.
  • The general rules and regulations of the Karlsruher Bäder must be accepted and observed upon entering the premises.
  • The instructions of the staff must be followed.
  • By taking part in the event, participants consent to the organiser taking photographs and videos of them and their dogs, which may be used for public relations purposes and to document the event.

If you have any further questions about the dog swimming event, please contact info(a)ka-baeder.de. The full terms and conditions of participation will be available on site on the day of the event.
